Alright!! So, Sister Liu! She's awesome!!!! She's from
Taipei, and we are getting along SUPER well. We love finding new ways to
make contacting more interesting! :) This week, we handed out a lot
of restoration pamphlets out on the street, family proclamations, and of course
--- PAPER CRANES!!!!! YEAAARRRHHH!!!
Anyway, she is great, cooks well, and is super loving,
experienced, and kind. In all of our teaching situations, the spirit is
so strong, and we are able to take turns teaching as well as asking questions
of the soul. Our investigators and our ward are starting to love us more and
more.
Also, on Friday, Sister Blickenstaff (President's wife) came
down to Zuoying and served with us from 2-5 in the afternoon. She BIKED
with us to Chen Mama's home and then to a recent convert family we taught that
day. It was her first time biking in a skirt!! She took a picture and
might have put it on the mission blog, so look out for it! :) It was
awesome because she got to hear us play violin for Chen Mama. When we
visited the recent convert family, she started crying because she felt the
Spirit so strongly as I played violin to "Families are Together
Forever." On the way to/from each appointment, we contact a TON of
people, especially since there are so many stop lights. Sister
Blickenstaff was awesome and talked to EVERYONE. She even got us a referral!
What a wonderful example. We love her so much, and I am so grateful for
the opportunity to have been able to serve with the President's wife! YEA!
It was really funny because when she started biking, her skirt
kept flying up a little, but we were able to teach her how sister missionaries
deal with those kinds of problems. (tying the front to the back of the skirt -
It works magic!)
Well, our investigators are doing alright! We have a wonderful
investigator who is on-date for the 14th of September. She has already
read to 2 Nephi all on her own in a week, and she's always feeding us
dumplings. We love her and are working hard to keep her on-date!
This week, I've learned how to be a happy missionary!! I've
learned that loving yourself is just as important as loving others. Being
happy is just as important as bringing others a message of happiness.
Having a unified companioship is just as important as teaching a family how to
be together forever. I'm loving and learning so much about being a
missionary, being a child of God, and most importantly, doing HIS will.
This morning, when we left the apartment to come email, it was
raining a little, and it was beautiful!!! :) I absolutely LOVE the rain.
Since it was just raining a little, and the email place is super close, we
decided to bike without our raingear on. It was so much fun!! :) I took a
picture, so you can see my happy face.
Other pictures are of me and my recent convert Xu Nuo, Sister
Liu, and a polaroid that we took this morning. :) YEAH!
Love you all too much.
Love,
Sister Verina Chen
Scripture of the week: Alma 41:10 - "Do not suppose,
because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored
from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, WICKEDNESS NEVER WAS
HAPPINESS."
What a wonderful scripture!! This week during personal study, I
realized how similar the restoration and the resurrection are. Both
processes include a renewing of body or church. Think about it. :)
Remember to ETTE and CPR!
